The Merasso Story

Art….has a way of telling a story…of a place, an incident or even the artists themselves. And can amazingly bring about changes in emotions of the one viewing it.

Born in Africa, we grew up admiring the sights and sounds of the rich culture of a society tucked away into a coastal town lined with coconut palm trees along the shores of the Indian Ocean.

From their famous fishing market at Banda Beach to the vegetable hawkers on the street and the traditional ladies’ wear made from the cool and soft colorful material called khanga, - the unique thing about which was that each one had a swahili proverb written on it -…each one had a story that could now find a place in the pages of their African history.

As we go towards the interiors on this city, a display of colorful paintings, carved figurines and sculptures describe this rich culture of Tanzania, the home of Kilimanjaro and the lion king! These areas are usually busy during the tourist seasons.

As the world becomes smaller and smaller with the progress in technology and education and blends of cultures, the one thing that still stands out in this African city is the art which remains as it used to be…..still telling stories of the people of Africa, their culture and their lives.

Inspired by the African Art from a country that we have grown to call home, we strive to offer you the best from the work of art of upcoming talented artists from Africa and around the world.
